As a future educator I know that it is extremely important to include technology in my lessons. Today's children are being brought up in the technology age so therefore, in order to reach them teachers need to incorporate things they can relate to in there lesson plans. This assigment taught me I need to be creative in coming up with ways to engage students into the lessons. In addition to that this article taught me one can take a simple task and add technology to it to better assist the children. For example, the traditional lesson said to read the book, "Life on the Mississippi" by Mark Twain I would add technology and have the students listen to the book on tape and them act it out for the class. Another thing I learned is that an educator must differentiatie the lessons so that each student is able to meet the objective. Technology seems to appeal to all students and allows the different levels of children to interact and help each other through assignments. Prior to this lesson I had thought about ways to make lessons more exciting however with this lesson I was able to pratice.
This assignment is defiantely one that will help me in the classroom. Instead of being the boring traditional teacher I will be able to add fun activites to the lesson that engage the students and make them want to learn more. In addition to that these activities using technology will serve as a reinforcer to the lessons taught. Incoporating technology will be good for those students who need extra help with the lessons. Another way I could incoporate technology in the classroom is adding these activties with technology to assess the children on what they have learned this way making it fun will take the fear out of some of the children. Standard five proved to be very useful and i look forward to including what i learned in my experiences as an educator.
